Samsung is the brand that is betting more on the 8K resolution since it came out and in this 2022 has launched three new ranges. In this comparison, we will see the differences between the TVs. Neo QLED 8K QN800B y QN900B.
These are the company’s top-of-the-line models for this year and include the most advanced panel as well as a new processor that makes use of neural networks.
Next, we are going to tell you about the differences between the Samsung QN800B and the Samsung QN800B QN900B.
Design
The design of both models is very neat and makes a good impression with an elegant and premium look. As was the case last year, both models have a very slim profile of only 1.74 cm thick in the case of the QN800B and 1.54 cm in the case of the Q900B.
Samsung QN900B Thickness
The QN900B series has the so-called Infinity One Design in which the screen bezels are virtually nonexistent. This gives it a differentiating touch to other models on the market and also with respect to the QN800B that does have more visible bezels.
Frames around the Samsung QN800B screen
The bezel surrounding the panel, follows the line that we first saw in the 2020 Q950TS model, with a metallic finish in which some perforations have been made. As a curiosity, last year they were circular and now they are oval, but something that goes completely unnoticed.
The back is completely flat in both cases, which comes in handy for hanging them on the wall. This way, unlike other TVs like for example OLEDs, where the top is thinner, it’s not going to leave gaps. So you can stick either the QN800B or the QN900B as much as possible to the wall. To do this, you can either use a generic bracket or buy the official Samsung model, which leaves the TV extremely close to the wall.
The support to put it on a table, is central type and is made of metal giving both models a premium look. The difference lies in the color, since in the QN800B the color of the stand is black, while in the QN900B it is gray or silver.

The controller is very similar to last year’s, but now includes a new Disney Plus shortcut and can even be charged by power emitted by a router for example. It retains the solar panel and USB-C port so batteries are no longer needed.

One of the peculiarities of these models, is that they do not come with the connections integrated, but have a separate accessory called Slim One Connect. This is where all the connections such as HDMI, USB ports, etc. are housed and there is only one cable that links the TV to this Slim One Connect. The power supply is included in this accessory so the TV does not have any connection, only the one that allows to connect the screen with this One Connect.

The design is now thinner and weighs less, something that is appreciated and can still be placed both attached to the TV stand itself and separately. Two cables are included, a shorter one in case you want to leave it on the stand itself and a longer one in case you want to place it under the furniture or elsewhere.
Smart TV
There is really no difference here and both come with the new version of Tizen, as well as the same memory and processor. As a new feature, both the Samsung QN800B and QN900B come with the new Gaming Hub, a specific panel dedicated to gaming functions. On this new Gaming Hub, you can play Xbox games without needing the console with the Xbox app, as well as access to other platforms such as Stadia. You can therefore play a multitude of games in the cloud and connect official Xbox or PS4 controllers or connect generic Bluetooth controllers.
Sound
At the sound level, there are some differences in power and number of speakers. The Samsung QN800B has a 4.2.2 sound system with 70W of power and the OTS Plus system.
The QN900B series on the other hand integrates a 6.2.4 channel system and an output power of 90W. It includes the OTS Pro system and in total includes two speakers on the sides, two center tweeters and four top speakers.
If you also buy a Samsung soundbar from 2022 compatible with Q-Symphony, you can make the TV speakers sound at the same time in combination with the soundbar. The resulting sound is spectacular getting much more immersive and more direct sound with more clarity.

Picture Quality
The QN900B and QN800B series are Samsung’s top-of-the-line 2022 series and integrate the best technologies.
First, they use Mini LED backlighting, with LED bulbs 40 times smaller. At the same time, Samsung has removed the encapsulation in the LED diodes and introduced a new foil that makes the light precisely directed and does not suffer from leaks, which will reduce blooming. The number of bulbs is multiplied compared to the Full Array and Edge LED models. Up to 30,000 bulbs are used in the 85QN900B, allowing for impressive levels of contrast.
The zoned light control, this year has been improved and is now up to 1344 zones in the 65 and 75 sizes and almost 2000 in the 85-inch size.

The image processor is the new ‘Neural’ which makes use of 20 neural networks to improve the quality of all content.
They are TVs that look great as they include the Ultra Viewing Angle filter, so you are going to be able to watch them from any position. They also include an anti-glare filter that allows you to see them correctly in bright conditions.
To enhance the color palette, they use LED’s that emit blue light and the red and green colors are created using a Quantum Dots nanoparticle sheet instead of using color filters.
One of the big new features in this 2022, is that now the QN800B and QN900B feature a 14-bit luminance scale. This means that there are more intermediate gray steps to improve detail in dark and very bright areas.
For gaming, both the Samsung QN800B and QN900B come with four HDMI 2.1 ports for 4K gaming at 120 Hz and 8K gaming at 60 Hz. They support FreeSync Premium Pro and Gaming Bar 2.0 in addition to widescreen mode for gaming in 21:9 aspect ratio.
With the QN900B you can calibrate the TV in professional mode from a compatible smartphone, adjusting the white balance in 20 points, grayscale and color, With the QN800B, you can calibrate it but in a more basic mode.
Conclusions: Which one is better to buy, Samsung QN800B or QN900B?
Evaluating the differences between both models, in our opinion, the QN800B seems to be the better option. Its performance is very similar to the QN900B but with a much tighter price. It seems to us that the price difference is somewhat excessive for the differences.
With the QN800B series, you are going to have the brand’s most premium features such as the new Mini LED system, QLED technology, the Neural image processor, a very thin thickness and the One Connect box.
The QN900B series presents as main advantages, a higher peak brightness that reaches 4000 nits (3000 nits in 65″), a sound system with more speakers, but that also does not make a big difference and the frameless design.
It could be interesting the QN900B if with some offer the price would be closer to the QN800B, but with the current price difference, our recommendation is to buy better the QN800B which is a great 8K TV.
