Design
The aesthetics are largely unchanged and only the stand legs have changed slightly. It maintains the ultra-thin design of only 2.6 cm thick and the frames around the screen are also very thin.
New Samsung Q60B QLED 2022 Samsung Q60B QLED TV thickness
The build quality is acceptable for this price range and the TV uses plastic in its entirety. The stand is composed of two legs at the ends that depending on the inch, can be centered to take up less in the cabinet. This is possible in the 75 and 85 inch sizes.

To keep the cables better organized and not so much in sight and hanging, there are a series of rails through which you can pass the power, antenna or HDMI cables, although if they are very thick you may not be able to do so.
The design of the controller, too, is unchanged, except for the addition of a new shortcut to the Disney Plus app. It maintains its construction with recyclable materials as well as the solar panel for charging and the USB-C port since it no longer uses batteries.

Connectivity
The Samsung Q60B QLED series comes with three HDMI 2.0 ports, one of which is eARC, two USB ports, optical output, an Ethernet port, and satellite and antenna jacks.
It integrates Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, which allows you to pair two devices via Bluetooth at the same time, without cutting off the TV’s audio.
Smart TV

The operating system is Tizen, which is the same as on Samsung’s entire line of TVs. It is an operating system that works very well and this year has seen its interface changed to one that is more similar to streaming movie apps.
The most popular apps like Netflix, HBO Max, Disney Plus or Amazon Prime Video are available and installed by default once you connect it to the Internet. Samsung usually incorporates new apps before its competitors, so you will not miss any application. You can create shortcuts in the main menu with the apps you use most and put them in the order you want.

There is a new menu called Gaming Hub from which you can access services for streaming games like Xbox, Stadia or NVIDIA GeForce Now. To play you can connect an Xbox controller, PS4 as well as other generic ones.
Like all Smart TV models of the brand, it comes with Ambient Mode, in which you can display on the screen animated backgrounds and images to create relaxing or more lively environments.
Sound
The sound system of this TV is not among its main advantages. It integrates a 2.0 channel system with 20W of power that gives a rather poor sound due to the thinness of the chassis. By wanting to make such a thin TV, one of the things that are most compromised is the sound as it has only two speakers of a fairly small size.
While it is true that the audio quality has been slightly improved over last year’s Q60A model, we still consider it rather mediocre.
The sound it emits is very flat focusing only on the mid frequencies and bass is conspicuous by its absence. Watching news or live debate programs, the sound may be okay, but as soon as you put on a movie, the sound is very closed and the effects of explosions, engine sounds, etc. are not noticeable. Also, although most TVs have the speakers directed downwards, in this case it is much more noticeable and at no time gives the feeling that the sound comes to the front.
In the QLED Q80B series of which we have already told you about in another review, the sound is much superior and there if you notice a more direct sound and with much more reinforcement in the bass.
Fortunately, the sound is something that can be easily improved either by adding a soundbar or a home theater system. The most convenient is to do it with a soundbar, with which you will get a more immersive and defined audio. If you buy a Samsung soundbar, you can use the Q-Symphony 2.0 function that makes the audio from the TV and the soundbar combine.

Picture Quality
Now it’s time to see what is the image quality you can get with the new QLED 2022 Q60B series from Samsung. This is the entry-level model in the QLED range and is the most affordable model that incorporates Quantum Dot technology. This technology is based on adding a sheet in which millions of these nanoparticles are added to create purer colors.
The light emitted by the LEDs is blue instead of white as usual which gives the advantage that the blue color is already created and to create the red and green colors these quantum dots are used.
The advantages are that the color gains in purity and what is called color volume which measures color reproduction at all brightness levels is improved. In this way, the Q60B better maintains color saturation in very bright scenes and colors are not washed out when an image is displayed at the maximum brightness that the TV achieves. The panel has a color depth of 8-bit + FRC and uses 16-bit color mapping which generates vivid and pure colors.

The backlighting is Edge LED, so the LED bulbs that illuminate the panel are only at the bottom. This means that the light is emitted only from below, which means that the contrast and brightness level is not as high as for example on the Q80B series using Full Array system.
The panel is VA type, which always helps to achieve deeper black tones than IPS panels and the native contrast is very good with a value of 6200:1. This makes the black tones quite deep and for movie viewing it is a TV that performs well. It maintains very well the detail in the shadows, as the transition between dark tones lets you see a lot of information in those areas and does not eat detail as it usually happens more in IPS panels.
No matter what type of content you’re watching, the Q60B retains a reasonable amount of detail in dark scenes, and brighter parts of the image are able to maintain adequate illumination.
Samsung Q60B QLED with Dual LED System and VA Panel
As usual in TVs in this price range, when viewed in dark environments, the experience is no longer as good and the dark tones are perceived more grayish and being an Edge LED TV, the uniformity is not perfect making that in the some punctual moments small light leaks are seen in the corners. This is common in TVs that use Edge LED backlighting and in models of this price range and is one of the aspects that make the difference between this model and the superior Full Array and Mini LED models.
Peak peak brightness is around 500 nits, which is an acceptable figure and somewhat higher compared to some competing models such as the Sony X81K or LG Nano 766.
While the Q60B is not as bright as the superior QLED Q80B, it offers enough punch for reliable daytime viewing. If your living room isn’t too bright, the brightness of th Q60B should be more enough.
Most of the TV shows and movies we watch through TV and cable programs, streaming content, and most Blu-rays-are optimized for standard dynamic range (SDR). When receiving an SDR signal, the Q60B is capable of delivering brightness of around 400-500 nits, above average for a TV in this category.
The Q60B’s color-enhancing Quantum Dots also contribute to the TV’s success in sunny rooms. These microscopic nanocrystals, typically found in high-end LED TVs, can improve color fidelity and brightness. Although in this case they do not have as strong an impact on performance as in Samsung’s high-end Neo QLED TVs this year, their benefits are appreciable. The Q60B covers nearly 100% of the SDR (Rec.709) color gamut and most content appears richly saturated.
When viewed from the side, there is a noticeable loss in color and contrast when you get above 30°. Colors become whitish and the image looks washed out. It is noticeable here that it does not have the Wide Viewing Angle filter that the superior Q70B series has, which widens the viewing angle.
The native refresh rate is 60 Hz so you can’t activate the blur reduction that the 120 Hz panel models do have.

For use as a gaming monitor, it offers low input lag by activating Game Mode and incorporates Game Bar 2.0 functions for changing game-specific settings and Panorama Game mode.
Samsung Q60B gaming performance
However, it does not have any HDMI 2.1 ports or FreeSync support, so if you are looking for a TV to play PS5 or Xbox Series X, we recommend you go for the Q70B range which already has four HDMI 2.1 ports for 4K gaming at 120 Hz.
Samsung Q60B QLED 2022 opinion
As we have seen in the review, the Q60B series is a very complete TV for the price at which you can buy it. It achieves good color reproduction and brightness thanks to Quantum Dot technology as well as good native contrast thanks to its VA panel.
It integrates a fast operating system and that includes the most popular applications as well as a very colorful remote that includes a solar panel and a USB-C charging port so you can forget about batteries.
Also noteworthy is its super slim design that makes it look great when hung on the wall.
However, it also has improvable aspects such as a limited viewing angle that makes you perceive a more washed out image when viewed at an angle greater than 30º and a somewhat mediocre sound that sounds very flat with no bass presence and not very immersive.
Valuing its performance and price, in our opinion the Samsung Q60B is a great option if you have a limited budget and it is going to cover the needs of many people. Taking into account the limitations we have mentioned during the review, we consider the Samsung Q60B one of the best TVs in its range.
